Bernard Silva
Dementia Counsellor

My name is Bernard Silva, BA(Comm), GradDip(Counselling) and I’m a counsellor working in private practice, providing counselling for support people and carers of people with Dementia.

I also provide counselling for people with early to mid-stage Dementia.

I have worked as a counsellor since 2009 and as a specialist dementia counsellor since 2011 at Dementia Australia.

When someone you know and or love gets dementia it can be confusing, scary and grief provoking. It may also be hard to know what to do or who to turn to.

You may find that your loved one with dementia is changing in ways that you do not understand, can’t explain and find hard to respond to.

Your friends can’t seem to help and the suggestions from well-meaning family members don’t seem to be too effective.

That’s where I come in. I can help you to make sense of the changes in your loved one and to explore what you can do to make life better for everyone.

I offer counselling online via Zoom or Skype and am available during standard business hours.

After hours session are available upon request. Sessions can be one offs, ongoing or as needed.

I can provide one-on-one sessions as well as family sessions and public talks.
